The £3 Meal Deal That Built a Million Pound Company

In 2016, I packed up my life in Dubai and moved to the UK. No guarantees. Just a gut feeling that something had to change.

I had nothing, no safety net, no connections, and a daily budget of £3. Tesco meal deals became my lifeline. Chicken mayo sandwich, a banana, and fruit juice breakfast, lunch, and dinner for months. It wasn’t glamorous, but it was fuel.

I was broke, alone, and starting from scratch. But in that raw, uncertain place, I learnt something that has shaped every step of my journey since:

Starting over isn’t about having all the answers it’s about trusting that you’ll figure them out.

If you’re reading this and you’re in the thick of it, trying to build something from nothing, battling loneliness, or unsure of your next move, I’ve been there.

And here’s what I learnt:

  • You don’t need plan B. You need stubborn belief in plan A.
  • Resilience is born when things are tough, not when they’re easy.
  • You’ll build your future one tiny, consistent step at a time and one person at a time.

Today, the meal deals are behind me, but the lessons are not. They became the foundation for Plumm, the mental health company I founded to change lives including my own.

That’s why I’m building something for you now.

Soon, I’ll be launching a course series for immigrants looking to move and build businesses in the UK. This isn’t fluff, it’s the real, practical stuff I wish someone had handed me when I first arrived. The kind of knowledge that turns fear into fuel.

You don’t need to be ready. You just need to start.

Talk soon,

Cheers,
Asim
